The last line of your vow is what everyone remembers. Here are six ways to end wedding vows that land, and how to make one yours.
1. End with a choice
“I choose you, today and every day after.” A clean declaration — no filler after it.
2. End with a call back to the opening
If you opened with a memory, close by returning to it. Full circle feels deliberate and complete.
3. End with forever
“Forever and always.” Short, classic, and strong enough to stand alone.
4. End with a final promise
“And one last promise — to keep choosing you, for the rest of my life.” The promise-as-closer is hard to beat.
5. End with their name
“I love you, [name]. That is the whole thing.” Saying their name as the final word is intimate and quiet.
6. End traditional
“Till death do us part.” If you opened personal, closing traditional gives both weight and warmth.
One rule for any closing
Stop. Do not explain the closing or add a thank-you after it. The last line is the last line.
